Drifting Off
As sleepy eyes drift
into dream dark seas unknown,
I am your anchor
As sleepy eyes drift
into dream dark seas unknown,
I am your anchor
After endless rain
Wind fills clean sheets on the line
My heart billows full
A wet black tree all
smothered by downy green leaves
seeps serenity.
A fresh loaf of bread
cooling on a wire rack
in time for dinner.
A certain crispness, out of place
A flicker. Then gone.
Crunchy leaves, cider, cardigans
Hope.
Whirl. Chink. Whirl. Hand cramps.
I must stay here, keep turning-
Thin clear turns thick white.
